The Semantic Web represents the desire to provide sufficient context to the vast amounts of data on private and public networks to allow for far more sophisticated processing of information. Although this area has attracted research interest for years, commercial and business applications are now within reach. Our experience with "Web 3.0" extends beyond the theoretical and into enterprise and large-scale consumer environments where semantic technologies have the potential to redefine how information technology can be used to support the generation of knowledge and business intelligence.
